The Count of Monte Cristo

Ok! I knew the end of the term was comming close so I needed to catch up on our reading assignment. So, over this last weekend, I finished the rest of our reading assingment for honors english. I read 260 pages! I took the test too and I got nineteen out of twenty! I was so proud. I was really nevous about taking the test because most of the time, I am horrible at online quizes. Surprisingly, during the whole time I read the book over the weekend, I never really got bored. I have to say, I really did like it too. Sure, the ending is kind of sad and twisted in a way, but overall, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It is full of romance, exitment, and revenge. I cant wait to see if we will get another great book next term. I swear, that if Thompson is reading this, that I promise i am not sucking up to you. I think I am going to start reading more of Alexander Dumas's books. They are quite intertaining and not what you expect. I love those kinds of books and look for them often. I hate when you watch a book or a movie, and the ending is totally ovious. Dont you? It drives me crazy. For instance, I love the movie- The Illusionist- because it makes you think and you dont know what to expect. This might sound wierd but I love to have to actually use my brain when I am reading a book or watching a movie. To Edmond Dantes!

My thought on cell phones

I have heard a lot of complaints about texters. All my friends who didnt have a phone (including me at the time) we always complaining about their other friends that text the whole day long and how annoying it was. For instance, i would go over to my friends house (I wont say names) and all we would do the entire time is sit in her room. I was bored out of my mind while she was just texting her other friends, bofriend, and ect. It drove me crazy! I would tell them, "Can you please get off that thing before i break it?!? Lets go do something we can both benifit from! I came here to hang out with you, not watch you click away at your phone!" "Hold on a sec," they would say and then i would know that i would be waiting for at least another thirty minutes. I guess at times i was jelous that i didnt have texting myself. Then one glorious day, my father took my sister and I to get new phones (our previous ones we had had for three years). I got this amazing phone with all the latest technology that could flip to the side like a keyboard and also up like a regular cell phone. It was and still is my pride and joy. After my sister and I had been begging my parents to get us texting for almost two years now, they finally gave in. When my father said he would get us texting my sister and I started dancing in the cell phone store. We were so exited. By the time we were done with our little routine, everybody in the store had their eyes on us. My sister, being a comedian, said,"Ya, you saw those awesome dance moves!" Everybody suddenly looked away and we both started laughing. I know that I said before that I hated texting, but after I got it, i realized how fun it was! I still love it to this day and I understand my texting friends a little better.

Memories with my old friend Wendy

I first moved to Utah in 1999. I lived two doors over from a girl that became my best friend in the world at the time and her name was Wendy. I was about 5, she was 4, and my sister Christen was about 6. We were all very close. My mother never had to ask what we were doing over the weekend. She would always know that we were going to Wendy's or Wendy was coming over to our house. No matter what our trio was doing, we would always be having fun. We would have a sleepover almost every weekend and every time, we would always watch the movie Josie and the Pussycats and eat gummy worms and popcorn. I am suprised that we never got sick of it. I am sure Wendy's mother did. We rented it so often i am surprised she didnt buy it.
One of our favorite places to go hang out at was a treehouse that some boys who were in love with Christen built for her. Every time we would go on a walk through our neighborhood, we would secretly go across the street, go though somebodys gate to get to the old railroad tracks, and find our treehouse that only the three of us knew about. We thought we were so clever sneaking out there to our special spot. Traditionally, after we were done at the secret tree house we would follow the old railroad trail to a wide creek that we would go swimming in. After we went back to Wendy's house, we would act all mysterious around her mother so she wouldnt suspect anything. I bet she probably knew all along.
Unfortunatley, over the years, the wild grass around our treehouse grew taller and taller and the weather started to destroy the wood. Our treehouse used to have carpet in it and it used to be fairly big for a treehouse built by a few first and second graders. We eventually stopped visiting it as small children, the older we both got. Scince Wendy moved away, my sister and I have gone to the old tree to reflect off old memories we both had there. There is still a few pieces of beat up wood and rusty nails stuck to the tree that we will never forget as long as we live.

Reflections contest

Im sorry to say i really dont know what to write about this week. I read on the requirements paper for honors english that you need to enter a writing contest of your choice

Mine is about:

This girl got a sweater from her grandma for christmas that is purple, covered in unicorns, has orange lace alonge the collar, and is just plain ugly in her opinion. Her mother loves it and wants to to wear it to school. She wants to ruin the sweater so she askes if she can put it on right away Her father thinks it is hideos too but she still hides the fact that she hates it from her mother. She tries to destroy it with some syrup and pancakes but her father stops her.

But she does agree, the sweater is very confortable. He father said that the grandmother used to make sweaters for him all the time when her mother and him first got ingaged. Even though they were hideous, he said that he wore them anyway because they made her mother and grandmother very happy. So the girl, Amanda, wound up not wearing them to school but she wore it at home and had a lot of good family memories sewed in the stitches of the sweater.
The moral of the story was that you cant judge a sweater by its cover. No matter how hideous someones clothes and fasion is it had nothing to do with his or her personality (this doesnt occur all the time). You can still have the best day of your life in your least favorite clothes! I hope you like my story, if you read it I think it is pretty hilarios.

Scary, but good times

When i was about four, my mother, sister, and I drove to California for vacation. We wanted to get there in a hurry so we hadnt ate anything all day. I was starving and my mom got my sister and I some Mcdonalds. We went to the beach to go swimming because it was the summer time and very hot outside. As we were eating our happy meals and playing with the little barbie toys inside, seguls stared at us with eyes full of hunger. I started walking along the beach eating my cheeseburger when... AHHH! About a flock of fifty to sixty seguls were chasing me. Of course a logical person would just drop the burger but I was starving! I kept running as fast as I could. My mother yelled at me to just drop the burger so i finally did and the seaguls stopped chasing me and started fighting over the burger. My mom got me a new burger and with anger asked the life guard if it was legal to shoot seaguls in California. As my mom yelled at the life guard, another rascal seagul tried to steal my big sister's barbie doll (she was 5-6) and she walked over to it and kept hitting the segul until he finally droped her doll. That day turned out alright after alll. Scary, but good times.
Do you know how embarrasing it is to have people laughing at you from all different angles but you are not watching them you are trying to dodge them so you dont get viciously torn apart by evil seguls? I was only four, cut me some slack. If you hadnt eaten all day you would be starving too. Think at the thoughts that were probly going through my tiny little head at that moment....
Run away from the vicious seguls
Dont drop your delicous Mcdonalds hamberger
What is your mother yelling at you
Dont trip over anyone
Your mother is telling you to drop the buger
Your body doesnt want to drop the burger
BAM your tiny little head understands!
The Seguls want the buger
Let them have the burger!
You will get another burger.
Victory at last.
No more fiesty seguls chasing you.
You will get another burger!!!!!!!!!!!11

My family

Well my family is pretty boring but almost everybodys is. I got a sister and of course the original mom and dad. My sister is 1 & 1/2 years older than me and is a Sophmore. She is sometimes a blast to be with and really funny. Other times she gets on my nerves because she always thinks she is right and loves to be the center of attention. Im not saying im the most perfect child in the world because I am not. I make mistakes like everyone else. Now back to my parents. My mom has a little bit of a perfectionist. Everything we do has to be to perfect or it isnt good enough for her. I still love her to death, but it just bugs me sometimes. My dad is a totally different story. You can ask him the most simple question on any subject and he will give you a three hour answer. I swear he knows everything! Well, there is my family for you. They are a very intertaining bunch to say the least....

My Animals

Hey this is Mieko. Im going to talk about my animals. I have three cats and one dog. One of my cats name is Candy and she is really fat and can barley walk. She is siamese and abbasidian. I have had her longer than any of my pets. She thinks she rules the world and hates everyone but me. My other cat named Mr. Tinkles (i named him) is sort of mentally challanged. I think he is blind in one eye because he is always running into things and spazing out. He is an orange tabby cat. My favorite cat, Oliver, is a brown and black tabby. He was the runt of his litter and is very small and wont get any bigger. I love him the most because is an adorable, engergetic little kitten that attacks your feet everytime you walk by and you just dont want to stop holding him. Last but not least, is my puppy (the biggest puppy of the century) Cleopatra, Cleo for short. She is a great dane and is about the size of a full grown lab. When she stands up she is a little bit taller than me. She is only a year old and most people are terrified of her. She is a sweet heart. I guess i am used to it because my whole life i have been growing up with great danes including my former dog polo who was only a year older than me when i was born and grew up with me until i was about nine or ten.
